The cryptic lyrics of the traditional Irish folk song “She Moved Through the Fair” can be traced to an ancient ballad from Donegal titled “Once I had a true love.” The hauntingly beautiful melody dates back to the Middle Ages. In this imaginative arrangement for solo voice and string orchestra, the accompaniment paints a vivid musical picture of the heartfelt story, as told by the vocal soloist.
